A Detailed Guide to Masturbators

Club X Blog

You just found out that the suspicious looking torch on your friend’s bedside table is a masturbator. You both laugh it off, but you secretly want to know…

What is a Masturbator?

Commonly known as Fleshlights, a masturbator is a portable, concealable masturbation device. It looks like this:

Fleshlight Vibro Touch Pink Lady

The case holds a hollow ‘silicone sleeve’ or ‘gel insert’. You insert your penis through the orifice end (mouth, anus, vagina) and slide it along the length of your penis. A removable cap on the opposite end allows you to adjust airflow for controlled suction.

What makes masturbators a legendary sex toy is the design of the sleeve. Typically made of silicone, the sleeve is soft with a realistic texture. The inner canal of each sleeve is what separates one masturbator from another.

Here are some examples of different sleeve designs:

Ridges and Bumps

A tunnel of ridges and bumps rumbles against your shaft. Bumps offer focused stimulation while the ridges massage a larger surface area. For intense pleasure, The Fleshlight Asa Akira Dragon combines both sensations in its rows of raised bumped ridges.

Twist and Shout

A corkscrew tunnel twists to stroke your penis from every direction. Stimulation varies from increasing to decreasing as you push through the wave formation. The Mick Lovell Squeeze Fleshjack teases you with a narrow ribbed entry before it lets you enter the twisting corkscrew grip.

Narrow Mid Point

A narrow mid-point will add a point of resistance as you push through. It will continue to grip your penis as you slide in and out. The Jenna Haze Lotus Fleshlight has a narrow midpoint and other narrow spaces that tighten around your shaft at the same time.

How do I start using it?

Before you smash away at your new best friend, take a few steps to ensure an optimal experience. Begin by removing the sleeve from the case. Place it and a bottle of lube in a bowl of warm water for 15-20 minutes. Make sure the bottle of lube can withstand high temperatures. When your timer goes off, shake off the excess water lightly and insert the sleeve back inside the case.

To reduce uncomfortable friction, lubricate yourself, the orifice entry point, and the inner canal. We recommend waterbased lube because other lubricants can deteriorate the sleeve. Test the heated lube on your hand to check the temperature.

Let the fun begin. Ways to you use your masturbator:

  • Traditional: Grip the case and move the masturbator up and down along your penis.
  • Pillow Talk: Place the masturbator flat on the bed and lay a pillow on top, leaving the orifice end facing you. In missionary position, slip your penis inside. Keep the masturbator still by holding down the pillow with your hands or bodyweight.
  • Couch Fucker: Wedge the masturbator between the couch cushions and pound away at it hands-free.
  • Shower Sex: Attach a masturbator shower mount to a clean, smooth surface. The arm will hold your masturbator upright so you can enjoy the relief of your personal waterfall.
  • Shoo-in: Slip the narrow end of the masturbator inside a shoe, leaving the orifice end exposed. Either lay the shoe-masturbator hybrid on the ground or control it with your hands. Great for those with a shoe or feet fetish.
  • Lovebirds: It’s not only a solo toy. Bring your masturbator with you into the bedroom. Tie your partner up and tease them mercilessly with an edging session.

    How do I clean it?

Once you’ve emptied into the masturbator, it’s time to return the favour and empty out the masturbator. Follow these simple steps:

    1. Remove the sleeve from the plastic case.
    2. Rinse the inside and outside with cold water to flush out the cum; warm water will thicken the cum.
    3. Spray a masturbator toy cleaner along the toy’s surface and interior, and then rinse with warm water.
    4. Air dry the sleeve completely before storing in a cool, dry place.
    5. Dust some refresh powder or cornstarch on the outside of the sleeve to keep it soft and non-tacky only after it's dry.

💡 TIP - Do not try to turn the sleeve inside out as it can damage the toy, and avoid soap as it will compromise the sleeve’s material.

        Troubleshooting the Masturbator

It’s natural to have some troubleshooting with your new toy, so let’s do some troubleshooting:

        • Too loose/Not intense enough:
          • Keep the end cap on to restrict air flow for suction at back stroke.
          • Remove the sleeve from the case so you can grip it with your hands and tighten it around your shaft. Consider a naked masturbator
          • Buy a smaller masturbator with a narrower width that will clench more tightly on your penis.
        • Too tight /Too intense:
